Scotty

Neurotically moaning my way around the world I aim to experience as much as I can and escape traditional British living. Travelling with my best friend Thomo (I hate him really), I hope to share my experiences with you, while constantly ripping on Ian and belittling myself. Should make for some fun times. (Circa 2012)Now older, fatter & somewhat wiser, I find myself sucked back into the 9-5 grind. With new responsibilities, but a never dwindling love for travel, I strive to regain the life I wanted, with my son and partner in toe...........is it possible to get the prefect mix? We shall see. (April 2017)

Bali Indonesia – Gallery

Bali, Bali, Bali….Party central here with nothing more to do other than chill out at the awesome long beach and then party. Need I say more. Mushrooms are legal here too and it is a very popular place for Australians to get away from it all. Its kind of like the equivalent to Ibiza if you’re European. Pole dancers, surfers and a Mecca for the care-free booze hounds of the globe. I loved it here and would easily go back...Actually you know what, I think I will! The photos say it all!

Music Music Everywhere!

Maybe it’s time for another few tunes I / we have been listening to while travelling…..or maybe not…either way I am putting them on. In my true style they don’t really follow on from one another so you can choose to listen to them in order or perhaps skip about a bit if you recognise any of them. Hope you enjoy and as ever feel free to criticise and suggest tunes.   1/ Nouvelle …

Nha Trang Vietnam – Gallery

Well I knew before arriving in Nha Trang that this coastal town was famous for its lengthy world famous beach. In fact it was placed in the top 20 in the world. The weather was stunning and vibe was laid back. there is also an island only accessible via cable car called Vinpearl land right next to the beach. It is an amusement island which can easily keep you amused for a day if you're at a loose end. Friendly locals and nice restaurants are too big plus points for Nha Trang and if you are lucky enough to have a better half then I would probably recommend this place as a cheeky retreat for you.

Hoi An Vietnam – Gallery

Hoi An is famous for it’s tailoring and custom clothing work. This town is ideally suited to the easy going type and business people alike with a wealth of small restaurants and clothing boutiques to fill your day. There is also a very nice beach 4km from the town centre. Just on the outskirts of Hoi An are marble quarries and some fascinating marble sculptures which drives a lot of the economy around the area.

Things To See And Do In Sydney

I’ve just realised that Ian and I have now been in Sydney for around 3 months and now only have around 5 weeks left before we need to be moving on to do our seasonal work to extend our visas. This takes around 3 months to complete and can sometimes be quite tricky to find, so we have allowed ourselves 2 months of leeway in case anything should go wrong. In our 3 months we …

Finding Cheap Clothes In Australia

I’m not going to pretend to be some sort of fashion expert, as is evident from photos, I look like a partially sighted chimp has had a go at dressing me, but from the months I have spent in Australia so far I have found a few places to get some cheap clothes. This isn’t to say they are anywhere near as cheap as you will find them in South East Asia but clothing can …

Driving In Sydney…..Badly

I feel it best to open this entry by saying within my first 3 weeks of driving in Sydney I received around $500 of parking fines. Why? Because the signs in this city are mental, not to mention some things that are perfectly legal to do in the UK are traffic offences over here. The sign you see in the photo attached to this post is actually quite tame in comparison to some of the ones …

28/01/2012 – I’ve Got These Burgers, These double Cheese Burgers (Job Hunting Sydney)

For anyone who has ever seen Menace 2 Society they may recognise the quote in the title…..for those that haven’t it basically just describes hitting rock bottom with money (before it gets a bit weird). After the first few days of Sydney we were seriously running low and the magical credit card that has kept us afloat was fast becoming as useless as any gym membership I have owned. The job hunt was on. Having …

The disappearance of Thomo and Scotty Dogg……dun du duh!!!

Ok so perhaps the picture is misleading as it makes it look like something really interesting or threatening has just been construed upon us by a menacing thug like monkey….but in fact it’s just a nice way to mask the fact that we have been too way laid to do anything to the website for quite some time. The reasoning shall be explained. The first and most defiantly the most prominent reason is our current …

Moto Bi Yo….Da Lat, Vietnam

Two days ago we were in Da Lat and finally got off our asses and did some touristy stuff, this came in the form of a day out on the back of a motorbike, known within tourist/Vietnam travelling as ‘Easy Rider’ type tours. We had already been approached by numerous random, not to mention pushy and over excited, Vietnamese guys who will get out a sketch pad reminiscent of something a 12 year old girl …

Mile High Toilet Head Club

It has fallen on me (a usual) to write up our journey to get to Vietnam. This is usually due to the fact that Ian sleeps through most of our travelling and this time is no exception. Plus if something sh#t is going to happen to anyone on the trip it is going to be me!!! The night before we left Perth was a Friday night which meant we could leave on a bang and …

Travelling Tunes

I know what we (mostly me) are listening to really isn’t of any great importance, but as I love music and I have already previously put up a list of tunes, I thought it about time for an new one. There’s a pretty eclectic mix here ranging from Hip Hop to Acoustic Folk, hopefully there’s a little something for everyone and maybe something you didn’t know but will like. Anyway as before here is the list and please feel …

Chatuchak Weekend Market

Today was the market and as the name would suggest it is on a Saturday and a Sunday. We have to admit we were pretty worn this day following our partying first few nights and were getting through the morning relying on a cool shower, a couple of pain killers and as much water as you can humanly take on. We were once again lucky enough to have our new found friends and guides, Jesus …

Defence, Ranting And Preparation!

I would firstly like to open with some statements of defence. This is in response to the drivel Thomo has bestowed upon the world with his ‘part 1‘ of some convoluted tat regarding Cottesloe beach. I can confirm the following: Yes it took me 3 and a half months to finish a book that could be easily leafed through by a 12 year old – This was not due to my inept ability to read …

Flights To Ho Chi Minh and Visas

Well after much moaning and time watching we finally got off our asses and booked our flights to Vietnam. This isn’t to say we have nearly enough sufficient funds or even a basic idea of a plan for when we get there, but in our true haphazard approach we randomly just bought our flights. We have admittedly been regularly teasing ourselves by looking at flight prices and playing around with different dates and so with …

What’s Going On In Vang Vieng With The Tubing?……Oh And An Update!!

It’s fair to say not much has been happening over the last month. All fun, socialising and relaxation has taken a backseat to make way for work and saving money. I’ve managed to get out a few times over the last few weeks but it’s fair to say I work some incredibly antisocial hours, with weekends taken up and most week nights working until 1am. I am slowly becoming a recluse and more so, bored. …

Perth Update & New Plans

Well at this point we have both managed to find ourselves some work. Having had two interviews at bars in central Perth and an area north of Northbridge I took the position as bartender at a place called the Queens Tavern. A pretty cool bar consisting of two floors, good food and live music from time to time. There were a few reasons I chose this bar. The first and foremost is the fact that …
