Back In Perth And Back To Blogging!!!

Well, it’s been a while since I have posted anything sadly but that is the joys of travelling combined with the inevitable looking for work in Australia. Perth the first time around for me, before we headed to Hopetoun, was only a flying visit so it was difficult to get any real kind of scope on what it had to offer.

When we arrived back into Perth after our 7 hour Transwa bus ride from Hopetoun we realised it was now time to start getting the job hunt together. Whilst at Ashleigh’s house we wrote up CVs relating to experience we had in bar jobs and began firing them out to literally any bar we could find on either www.gumtree.com.au or by typing ‘Perth bars and clubs’ in the world dominatrix that is Google. We had no idea what to expect from any of this as we were basically a couple of virgins to the city job hunt game but with mixed feelings and semi high hopes we remained optimistic and waited for some replies to our inboxes.

From the bus station we wandered to find the ‘Underground Hostel’ as we couldn’t go back to the cold cave-like conditions of the ’Rainbow Lodge’ which if you read Scott’s review I’m sure you’ll understand why! It wasn’t a bad walk to get there from the East Perth station, probably around 20 minutes and it was nice to actually see some lit up buildings and a night scene rather than abandoned warehouses and dead looking neighbourhoods. We aimed for the ‘Underground Hostel’ as it had a livelier crowd and a warmer look to it from the pictures. Once again i will not regurgitate what Scotty has already written about as he has informed me that a review has been done for this place too! But I suppose when you’re the guy that is never satisfied you are bound to moan about every single place you stay in haha.

We basically got ourselves accustomed to the fact that we would be in Perth for the foreseeable future and got our beds made up ready for a busy day of familiarising ourselves with the area and firing out some CVs to anybody who would listen. So in my next post I’ll be talking about all the different areas of Perth which are best for nightlife, shopping, cafes, free Wi-Fi and just about anything anyone wants answering. I’ll also be talking about how you can go about converting your qualifications over to Australian recognised ones if you are in the trades sector. Oh yeah, also how to get a mobile phone and set up a bank account, taxation number and superannuation account. Sorry for the delay in posts but we will be back on it from now on in!

  1. Is that one of the cavemen from the film “Night at the Museum” pointing at that fox?
