On the complex of Sai Thong where we are staying in Koh Tao there are a few bars. The Banana Bar is a great little setup positioned right on the edge of the coast surrounded by huge natural boulders and twisted organic trees, it couldn’t be a better place to kick back, relax and unwind with a cocktail or two watching the sunset. A bit further up the sandy hill surrounded by very tall impressive palm trees containing an abundance of coconuts ripe for falling down there is another bar called the Sky bar, and as the name suggests it sits extremely high up on the island sporting extremely impressive views of the coastline. We ventured up there last night not knowing what to expect (as usual) and I’m glad we did. When the sun goes down the entire bar is covered from floor to ceiling in ‘day glow’ paint where many tourists and travellers beforehand have marked their own form of tag, inspirational drawing or inspiring message. We added ours in the form of blue paint which you will be able to see from our photo archive of Koh Tao. Once we finished up there we used our torchlight to guide us back down the pitch black sandy hill to our humble little bungalow. Bed time in our mosquito netted bed was definitely on!! Another chilled night in paradise…
