I visited Kathmandu for 1 week and stayed for 2 months...yes it's chaotic, yes it's dirty, yes it's dusty, yes it's smoggy or muddy BUT it is also fascinating. Temples, distinct districts, tradition and culture along with ever smiling people make this a worthwhile place to come...and not JUST to head off trekking in the Himalayas. Waalk around here an marvel wide eyed at the diversity of sights and experiences.
These pictures are of the real belfast. County antrim has some lovely towns in it.
This is south of Belfast where my brother now lives…in Co Down…but you are soo right it does have so much going for it.
Yes my dad is from kilkeel and mum ballycastle. Miss the smell of peat floury spuds and brown lemonade from childhood holidays here.
Amazed…I did not know you were from Ireland…are you still there? If you have any thoughts memories, musings or just piccies then feel free to add them to the site.. 🙂
I was born in Englaind but all my family were born there. Majority of them live near me. But brought up with all the Irish traditions
Where in England are you Maggie? And do you still have folks in Ireland?
Is that little wooden boat the one you an peter used to go rowing in when you were children?! Brown mud, green grass and blue skies, looks like N.Ireland to me!
Nope..the boat we rowed was more akin to an ocean liner!! we were only 9 or 10 ish!! The blue skies were put in to confuse anyone used to Irish weather!! but when the sun shines…like anywhere else in the world I guess…everything looks fantastic!
I completely agree! A beautiful place, thanks for sharing
It’s a pleasure of course…if you have any piccies you wish me to pop on this post like I did with Maggie then feel free to send them to me. I expect to find some more of my photos from N Ireland but most of my growing up there was before the digital age so each picture had to be measured and considered because you only got 24 frames before sending them off for developing….remember those days? No instant replay then!!
Cheers
